AOBRD Carrier Fleet Compliance has changed.

The LONG awaited ELD ruling now applies to motor carriers and drivers who are currently required to keep records of duty service (RODS) on paper or with an Automatic Onboard Recording Device (AOBRD) under the hours-of-service (HOS) regulations.

Only approved ELDs that are “integrally synchronized” with a truck’s engine, making sure drive segments are captured are permitted. Mobilizz and Geotab have been preparing for this moment and we have the best solution and know-how to get you compliant!

Driver Vehicle Inspection Reporting (DVIR)

  • Complete end-to-end inspection workflow
  • Drivers select defects, add comments, review previous inspections, and certifies the repair performed fixed the defect identified
  • Inspections show defects, who identified the defect, and who repaired it
  • Reports in MyGeotab can be sorted to show all DVIRs, or just those with defects, those that have been repaired and those that have been certified as repaired offering great visibility to the health of the fleet

Hours of Service (HOS)

Geotab Drive users can manage driver log reports and vehicle inspection data all in one, user-friendly platform. HOS regulations aim to improve safety by keeping fatigued drivers off the road. Fleets that meet the compliance requirements have a lower chance of accidents, injuries, and fatalities related to operating commercial motor vehicles. HOS is one of three compliance efforts that also include IFTA and CSA.

Business Integration

Geotab uniquely and seamlessly integrates Compliance tools such as Hours of Service, IFTA mileage collection, DVIR into a cost effective software suite that includes Driving Safety, Productivity and Fleet Maintenance Management as well as Marketplace Add-Ins to further integrate the data with applications that are important to the running of the business. Geotab views this integrated approach as essential for any small or large business to see the ‘big picture’ in business operations.

Phase 1:  Awareness & Transition Phase

The two-year period following publication of the ELD rule Feb. 16, 2016 to Dec. 18, 2017. During this time, carriers/drivers should prepare to comply and may voluntarily use ELDs.

Phase 2: Phased-In Compliance Phase

The two-year period from the Compliance Date to the Full Compliance Phase (four years following ELD rule publication) December 18, 2017 to December 16, 2019.

Phase 3: Full Compliance Phase

After December 16, 2019 all drivers and carriers subject to the rule must use certified, registered ELDs that comply with requirements of the ELD regulations. As per guidelines on the FCSA website.

Implement ELD technology today, and:

  • Use a device that’s available now until 2019 – allowing you to roll out technology at a pace that’s comfortable for you, not driven by the government
  • Start immediately building ROI: slash fuel costs, drastically reduce paperwork, increase driver communication, and charge for detention time
  • Make life easier for commercial truck drivers by letting them focus on driving, not driver logs
